General Motors Defense Australia has begun production of high-hardness steel turrets for LAV-25 armored cars for export. General Motors Defense had been building these in Canada, but that factory will now be completely busy making turrets for LAV-III armored cars for US Army Medium Brigades. The Australian factory already has orders for 100 turrets for the Canadian Army, 100 turrets for the New Zealand Army, and 81 turrets for the Australian Army. It expects export sales to top 500 in the first five years.--Stephen V Cole
