The T-72 is one of the most widely deployed tanks in the world, in service with more than a dozen countries. There is a considerable market for upgrade packages for the T-72, and the Ural Design Office (which invented the T-72) is campaigning hard for a slice of that market. They are offering an upgrade package that includes a new more powerful 1,000hp diesel engine, Arena automatic defenses, the latest 125mm 2A46M cannon, computerized fire control, stabilized day-night sights for both commander and gunner, and explosive reactive armor.--Stephen V Cole
