Britain plans to give 133 more surplus Challenger I tanks to Jordan, in addition to 299 tanks and vehicles already promised as a gift to the moderate Middle East nation. The Ministry of Defense broke the news on 17 October, since the older tanks are being replaced by the Challenger II in the British armed forces. An initial batch of the tanks was sent to Jordan (which has long had good relations with Britain) in October 1999. - Adam Geibel
