Electronic Weapons: More Norwegian GPS Jamming

Archives

December 13, 2025: During September in northeastern Norway, a twin-engine Dash-8 aircraft was unable to land because GPS signals were being jammed. The aircraft had to proceed to Batsfjord, the next available airfield, to land. Norway has several airfields in areas near its northern Kola Peninsula. This is where the Russian naval and air force units conduct training exercises, which include testing their jamming capabilities. Such exercises were being conducted when the Dash-8 aircraft ran afoul of the jamming part of the exercise. These exercises were part of the larger Zapad-25 exercises taking place along the western border of Russia and Belarus.
