Many US military helicopters and tilt-rotors have systems to avoid terrain when flying at low levels, but these emit radar signals that can give away the location of the aircraft or warn the enemy that it is coming. The Pentagon wants to move these systems to new Low Probability of Detection radars that are all but impossible to detect.--Stephen V Cole
