The Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) is not happy with the U.S. governments recent announcements ("National Strategy To Secure Cyberspace") on what is to be done to improve the nation's Internet defenses. One component of DISA, the Information Assurance Support Environment (IASE), serves as a clearinghouse, and help desk, for Internet security issues. IASE has provided the Department of Defense with lots of detailed info on what is wrong with military Internet security and what is needed to fix it. But it's largely a one way conversation. It's as if no one at the top really understands what's going on in the trenches, or is afraid of stepping on someone's toes (by proposing Internet security measures that will upset manufacturers or consumers).
