Many Islamic radicals promised a cyberwar attack of devastating impact if Iraqi was invaded. So the people running U.S. military web sites were carefully watching for an attack as the bombs and missiles first hit Iraq on the 17th. Over the next few days, all they could detect was a lot more traffic, indicating a failed attempt at denial of service (DDOS) attacks. There was a large increase in web site defacements, from about a hundred a week to 800 last week. These kinds of attacks are more annoying than anything else. There may still be a damaging "Jihad" cyber attack, but it would likely come from Western programmers and engineers who support Saddam.
