The Afghan War has convinced some civilian leaders in the Pentagon that the US needs more special forces, and in a hurry. One plan making the rounds is to convert a few battalions of the 82nd Airborne and 101st Air Assault Divisions into special operations battalions. The Army opposes the move, saying that breaking up its unique airmobile divisions is a bad idea.--Stephen V Cole
