The U.S. Coast Guard has selected the CASA 235-300M as it's new medium range patrol aircraft. It will replace twenty HU-25s and some HU-130s. The two engine, 18 ton CASA cruises at 440 kilometers an hour and can stay in the air for about eleven hours. The aircraft has a rear ramp, which makes it easy to load rescue equipment. It will be equipped with TV and night vision equipment, as well as radar.
