The competition for Austria's new fighter program is heating up. The French are pushing the Mirage-2000, the Swedes are pushing the JAS39 Gryphon, the Eurofighter consortium is pushing their Typhoon, and the US is pushing the F-16-C52. In an unusual move, US Air Force officials have made trips to Austria to promote the American design.--Stephen V Cole
