The Navy has christened its 41st Burke-class destroyer, the DDG-91 Pinckney. The ship will be commissioned in 2004 and will be home ported in San Diego with Destroyer Squadron 23. The Navy has laid the keel of SSN-775 Texas, the second of the Virginia-class submarines. This class, once known as "Centurion", is the cheaper design that followed the superb but expensive Seawolf class.--Stephen V Cole
