The Russian army, upset over continuing stories about it not having bought any new weapons since the end of the Cold War, responded by announcing that it had indeed bought 16 different new weapons last year. These ranged from complex missiles to assault rifles. The Russian army would not provide any details, except to mention that they had bought three new types of pistols.
