The US Coast Guard is steadily replacing its Point-class 87-foot patrol boats with the new Protector-class. Retired boats, with many years of service left, are being donated to countries such as Antigua-Barbuda, Argentina, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Mexico, Panama, the Philippines, and Venezuela. --Stephen V Cole
