Britain has withdrawn the Sea Eagle air-launched anti-ship missile from service after only 15 years. The British noted that the Royal Navy now has plenty of Harpoon missiles on ships, and that the fire-and-forget Sea Eagle is less effective close to shore or among islands. Retiring the missile will save the British millions of pounds in maintenance and support costs.--Stephen V Cole
