General Shinseki described three different US Army force structures in a recent speech.
@ The "Legacy Force" is the current Army, with its excellent light infantry and powerful heavy armor.
@ The "Interim Force" will be constructed over the next 3-5 years, and will involve converting 5-8 of the Legacy Brigades into new Medium Brigades while the heavy armor converts to "digital divisions" with Crusader howitzers.
@ The "Objective Force" will come into being in 10-15 years. This force will use new vehicles and technology that is only now on the drawing boards. --Stephen V Cole
