Stovel, Ariz. (June 13, 2006) - Leaving a cloud of smoke behind, one of the Smokey Sam rockets is shot off in support of Operation Desert Talon 2006 (a training exercise).
Smokey Sam (DGTR-18A) is a surface to air missile simulator. It produces a large amount of smoke when launched but is made of paper and foam ensuring it does not endanger aircraft. U.S. Marine Corps photo by Lance Cpl Cory A. Tepfenhart
