Afghan police arrested former Taliban deputy education minister Zabihullah Zahid in the northern province of Balkh.

Also in the north, a truck full of weapons and ammo, being collected in a disarmament program, exploded, killing 13 militiamen and wounding 21 others. The explosion was believed to be an accident.

There were more long range rocket attacks against American bases over the weekend. There were no casualties and US troops are still checking to see if their return fire caused any casualties. American troops have organized "ambushes" for these attacks, having artillery aimed at likely launching sites for the highly inaccurate rockets.
