NATO's Dynamic Mix 2000 military exercises ended in Greece. (Other exercises will continue through June 10 in Turkey and Italy.) 15,000 troops from 14 countries participated, including (for the first time as NATO members) Czech Republic and Hungarian soldiers. The big event occurred on June 2, when 150 Turkish marines --along with 1250 US, Greek, and Spanish troops-- conducted a landing 120 miles southwest of Athens. The Turk marines were under US command. This is a major indicator of how much Greek and Tur k bilateral relations have improved.
