RFE reported that on Bulgarian police arrested a murderer who has been sought by Interpol since 1993. The arrest took place on June 20. The alleged killer, a 40 year-old Kosovar Albanian known as Sreten I had apparently been moving through Bulgaria on a regular basis. The arrest report said he had used 14 different aliases to enter and exit Bulgaria (demonstrating that the US isnt the only country wrestling with porous borders). Sreten I is wanted for murder in Germany, Serbia, Holland, and Austria. He escaped from a Dutch prison in 1993 (where he was serving a sentence for murdering a policeman). The Bulgarian National Service for Combating Organized Crime said that Sreten I is also involved in narcotics trafficking and counterfeiting.
