  The newly reelected president Deby offered to negotiate with rebel groups in the north. But The Political Action and Liaison Committee (CPAL), which  represents opposition and rebel movements (the Movement for Unity and the Republic or MUR, the Chad National Front  or FNT and the Movement for Democracy and Justice in Chad or MDJT, which has been fighting in the north for the last three years), rejected the offer and vowed to fight on until president Deby was out of power.
