US Senate investigators discovered that in 1997, a confessed US scientist (Peter Lee) who had passed nuclear weapons secrets to China, was let off with no punishment. Fumbling between different government agencies caused the failure to prosecute. Meanwhile, China has now announced that there is a possibility of working out differences with Taiwan without going to war over it.
