Pakistan is buying four frigates from China. The F-22 class ships displace 2400 tons and are built for ocean going operations. The F-22 carries a helicopter, as well as anti-submarine, anti-aircraft and anti-ship weapons. The first ship will be built in China, with the other three in Pakistan. This will transfer warship building technology to Pakistan. The first ship will be delivered in two years, with the other three by 2011. Negotiations for this purchase have been going on for over a decade.
