The government and FARC have agreed to resume peace talks on October 26th. Meanwhile, a new FARC tactic in the south is threatening government control in rural areas throughout the country. For weeks, FARC has been setting up roadblocks and turning back all traffic. Anyone who does not cooperate has their vehicle shot up or burned. Even though right wing militias and government troops have been going after the FARC roadblocks, the rebels just set them up elsewhere. As a result, supplies of all types, especially food and medicine, are drying up. FARC could eventually let traffic move, but only under their control and, most likely, after collection of a "tax."
