Former government officials in Venezuela accused the radical elected leader of Venezuela, Hugo Chavez, of supporting leftist rebels in Colombia as a means to keeping Colombia unstable, and prevent the leftist rebellion from spreading into Venezuela. Videos and documents were presented to back up the accusations.  Chavez got elected on a platform of reform, to eliminate corruption and ineffective government. His ideas have not worked and his popularity is plummeting.
