For the first time, the Kashmiri rebels attempted to use a suicide bomber. The car bomb attempted to enter the Indian military headquarters in Kashmir, but was stopped at the entrance, where the driver detonated the bomb, injuring five soldiers and four civilians. Artillery fire across the line of control left three Indian civilians injured. Rebels threw grenades at Indian troops in a crowded market place, killing two and injuring sixteen civilians.
