A large bomb went off in a marketplace near an army garrison in southwestern Pakistan. Nine off duty soldiers were killed and more than 27 (mostly civilians) were injured. Local Baluchistan separatists were suspected of being behind this attack, and others. In Bangladesh, a 167 pound bomb was found and defused shortly before the prime minister was to give a speech nearby. Three suspects were arrested, all members of an Islamic fundamentalist group.
