Pakistan has deported 89 Arabs working for Arab relief agencies. The Arabs were thought to be pro-Taliban and engaged in political activity. The US has agreed to give Pakistan a role in what kind of post-Taliban government is formed. This, however, is strongly opposed by the Northern Alliance.

In Kashmir, several clashes between Indian troops and rebels left 18 rebels, five soldiers and four civilians dead. Some of the injuries were from Indian and Pakistan artillery firing across the Line of Control.
