  Indian and Pakistani artillery exchanged fire along the Line of Control, leaving four Pakistani civilians dead. Elsewhere in Kashmir, rebel activity left two soldiers and two rebels dead.

In northern India, five people died as they assembled a bomb. Police are trying to find out who was doing this and what for. Moslem terrorism is suspected, but it may have just been criminals.
