China and India are planning joint naval and air force exercises. Both countries have recently bought high-tech weapons from Russia. The planned air force exercise would involve Chinese Su-27 and similar Indian Su-30MKI fighters. These aircraft are being manufactured under license in China and India. Russia has long been an ally and weapons supplier for India, but for the last three decades China has supplied weapons to Pakistan (which is not happy about China getting cozy with India.)
