Some thirty armed Moslem militants landed on one of  the Malukus islands on the 24th and the resulting religious violence left at least 34 dead and dozens injured. The militants cut the phone lines before they began fighting with local Christians. The police restored order today, but tensions remain.  In Aceh province, police killed three rebels. Since the Aceh peace agreement was signed, 19 people have died in continuing violence.
