In Aceh, troops raided a rebel hideout and killed 20 rebels. One soldier was wounded. Six weapons were captured. A local rebel commander said only four rebels were killed, and that the rest of the dead were civilians caught in the crossfire during the three hour gun battle. Meanwhile, president Wahid says he is willing to declare a state of emergency and call on the army to save his job. Many senior army commanders insist they would not go along with this.
