The government has warned political (and especially religious) parties to not allow their members, especially "security personnel" to dress in camouflage uniforms and carry on as if they are military personnel. The government fears that these party militias will get military weapons and turn into ill-disciplined militias. 

The fighting in Aceh has so far cost the government over $140 million. But the army has not been able to catch any of the senior rebel leaders. A new military commander for troops in Aceh has been appointed and new tactics are expected to be used.
