The Russian newspaper KOMERSANT says that Moscow no longer regards the 1995 agreement to stop providing military aid and equipment to Iran as valid. This agreement was hailed as a great diplomatic success when then-Prime Minister Chernomyrdin signed it with Vice President Gore. The agreement was never really observed as it included a provision that Russia could finish supplying anything under a previous contract, and the extent of those "previous" contracts was never listed and has continually expanded. --Stephen V Cole
