American bombers hit targets in northern Iraq, in response to Iraqi guns firing on US aircraft over the the northern no-fly zone. Meanwhile, the US released a report detailing how Iraq spends its billions of dollars of oil income. Much of the money goes for luxuries (mansions, alcohol, consumer goods) for the ruling elite and its allies. The report points out that Iraq deliberately denies food and medial services to portions of the population that resist Saddam Hussein's rule.
