UN weapons inspectors demanded that the Iraqi government provide a list, within two weeks, of all their scientists, who have ever worked on chemical, biological or nuclear weapons. The Iraqis have indicated they might not do this. Such a move would trigger a "material breach" of the UN arms inspection and lead to military action.

A former Turkish prime minister (voted out of office last month), said that the U.S. had asked to send 90,000 troops to Turkey, and have use of six air bases and two ports for operations against Iraq. Turkey has not yet agreed to this. There are currently 2,000 U.S. troops operating in Turkey.

U.S. and British officials say that Iraqis December 8th declaration that it has no chemical, biological or nuclear weapons, is false, misleading and incomplete.
