Troops found and raided a Maoist camp in western Nepal. Hidden in a forest, the soldiers appeared to have surprised the about 500 armed Maoists, and killed several dozen of them, causing the rest to scatter. Many weapons and much equipment was left behind. A local citizen tipped off the police that the Maoists were assembling at the camp in preparation for an attack.
