In southeastern Nepal, the army ran down a large group of rebels, killing over fifty of them. Nine soldiers died as well. Seventeen soldiers, and over a hundred rebels were wounded. The army used warplanes as well as infantry in a fight that lasted several hours. Elsewhere in the country, nine rebels died in another battle, and a group of rebels attempted to bomb a TV transmission tower.
