Violence over the price of liquor licenses in Niger state left nine dead. Niger state has implemented Sharia law, which outlaws sale of alcoholic drinks to Moslems. But non-Moslems can buy booze from shops that have a state license. Some non-Moslem groups are very opposed to paying $1650 for a license and this led to communal violence.
