Nigeria continues to be plagued by serious corruption. The Army recently asked the public to turn in neighbors they knew were driving around with fake military stickers on their cars, in order to bypass security checkpoints.
Furthermore, the latest victim of the infamous Nigerian "419" scam was Egyptian Army General Abdul Azeez. He told a Nigerian court how he was duped of over $300,000 by Alumile Adedeji (aka Ade Bendel). Azeez was made to part with the money at various times in Lagos (Nigeria), London (United Kingdom) and Cotonou (Benin Republic). While in Nigeria, Azeez was lodged at the Federal Government Special Guest House, as patrol vehicles filled with men in police and army uniforms were stationed nearby, to give the impression that the deal was real. - Adam Geibel
