Niger Delta Peoples Volunteer Force (NDPVF) have handed in 196 assault rifles and two machine-guns, for cash payments, in the last week. A rival group, the Niger Delta Vigilantes (NDV), have turned in 600 assault rifles. However, there are over 5,000 weapons out there. The government is paying up to $1,800 for each assault rifle.
