In the Pacific city of Vladivostok, explosions ripped through an ammo storage area (for army and navy artillery shells). At least 26 people were injured. Russia has hundreds of poorly maintained ammo dumps, often containing ammunition that is too old to be safely used, but safe disposal costs too much. There have been five accidents like this in the Vladivostok area in the last ten years.
In Chechnya, fifteen soldiers were killed by rebels in several incidents in the last two days.
