The Burundi ceasefire talks finally got off the dime. On August 12 the Burundian government met with Hutu rebels (including the main faction of the FDD, CNDD-FDD) in Tanzania. The talks continued through August 15. Pierre Nkurunziza heads the CNDD-FDD. Regional analysts now estimate the CNDD-FDD has from 10,000 to 12,000 guerrillas.
