The FNL (the only rebel group still fighting the Burundian government) dismissed as meaningless a threat by regional leaders to impose sanctions against them, since the FNL is fighting inside Burundi, and has no support from any regional country and no bank accounts in Africa or in European countries.
The FNL had accused the president of breaking a promise to end hostilities on the 13th and threatened to unilaterally suspend their participation in peace talks.
Burundi demobilized 29 child soldiers, who had served as porters in the regular army. They also had the task of observing enemy movements, for which they earned the nickname "Doriya" (loosely, 'spy' or 'sentry'). - Adam Geibel
