Another 17 Afghans were released from Guantanamo prison in Cuba, and returned to Afghanistan. Some 300 Afghans have been released from Guantanamo in the past two years. In most cases, those released had been picked up in error in the first place. But about ten percent of those released were later found to have returned to fighting against the government. The prisoners come back a lot healthier, having been exposed to modern medicine for the first time in their lives. Some were able to learn how to read and write while imprisoned. However, in every batch returned, there are at least a few who denounce the United States and the Afghan government for their imprisonment.
